As the driving force behind HPT: Records, I am Adrian Cook, also known as 'DriTV,' an independent Virginia artist with a rich history of performing across the country and connecting with diverse audiences. My journey in the music industry has led me to network with some of Hip-Hop's most iconic figures, including the legendary Furious 5 and SugarHill Gang.
My journey as an artist is deeply rooted in a lifelong passion for music and performance that began when I was just 7 years old. From the moment I started writing songs, I knew that music would be my path. As a teenager, I took every opportunity to develop my craft, performing in numerous plays in Washington, DC, and at Hampton High School. These experiences helped shape my understanding of storytelling and stage presence, crucial elements of my artistic expression today. My dedication to music was evident early on when I won a music composition competition in the 6th grade, a milestone that fueled my determination to pursue a career in the arts.
High school was a particularly formative time for me. With the support and encouragement of my mom, I founded and led a dance team, blending my love for movement and rhythm. This experience not only sharpened my performance skills but also taught me the importance of leadership and collaboration—qualities that continue to guide me in my career. My passion for dance continued into college, where I joined a hip-hop dance team, allowing me to explore new styles and push the boundaries of my creativity.
As I transitioned from student to professional artist, I began to make a name for myself in the music industry. My performances took me across the country, where I had the honor of opening for Lil Meech in St. Louis and performing in New York for BarShon from the Sugarhill Gang. These opportunities were more than just gigs—they were affirmations of my hard work and dedication to my craft. Along the way, I connected with major artists like Big Boogie, who have inspired me to keep pushing forward and striving for greatness.
In addition to performing, I’ve been focused on creating and releasing music that reflects my growth as an artist. I've put out several songs and videos on major platforms, each one a testament to my evolving sound and vision. One of my most significant achievements to date is releasing a track featuring the talented MonDaGoat. This collaboration was not only a creative milestone but also a reflection of my commitment to producing quality music that resonates with listeners.
As I continue to build my career, I remain dedicated to supporting and empowering other artists, especially those from the Hampton Roads area. I understand the challenges of breaking into the industry, and I’m passionate about providing the guidance and resources that can help others succeed. Through HPT: Records, I aim to give emerging artists the opportunities and support they need to make their mark in the music world, just as I have been fortunate enough to do. In 2025, I earned my Masters in Entertainment Business Management, further solidifying my commitment to the industry.
My experience has fueled my passion for not only creating my own digital art but also for empowering the next generation of hip-hop talent. I am deeply committed to managing and supporting artists from the Hampton Roads area, providing them with the resources and guidance I wish I had when I started. An EPK serves as a professional and organized way to present an artist's brand, music, and achievements to industry professionals, including media outlets, promoters, and record labels. By mastering this, I can ensure that the artists I represent make strong first impressions, which is critical in such a competitive industry. I now understand how vital it is to include high-quality elements like a compelling biography, music samples, and professional photos, as these components showcase the artist's talent and personality.
Knowing how to build an effective EPK also allows me to tailor it for specific opportunities, such as bookings, collaborations, or press coverage. This flexibility ensures that my artist’s brand aligns with the goals of the industry professionals reviewing it.
